Homeschool Fine Arts Program

Where Faith Takes the Stage

Union Chappel's Homeschool Fine Arts Program gives students in grades 1–12 a Christ-centered place to grow as artists. We offer Band, Ms. Mary's Music Class, Private Lessons, and Theater in a structured, encouraging environment where every student belongs and every gift is developed.

Register for Fall 2026

Program Tracks

Students enroll in one or more tracks. Classes meet weekly on Mondays.

Band

Beginner and experienced ensembles for students at every level. Students develop technique, musicianship, and the discipline of playing together as a group.

Ms. Mary's Music Class

A lively elementary music class for grades 1–5. Students sing, play instruments, move, listen, and create in every lesson. Grades 1–2 meet at 10:00 AM and grades 3–5 meet at 11:00 AM, beginning September 14.

Private Lessons

One-on-one instruction tailored to your student's instrument, skill level, and goals. We offer lessons across a range of instruments. Each session is 30 minutes with a dedicated instructor.

Theater

Every student receives a speaking role. No one sits on the sidelines. Students learn acting, stage presence, and what it means to tell a story with purpose.

Meet Your Instructors

Kay Kenner Ashcraft, B.F.A.

Theater Director

Kay brings 50 years of award-winning leadership in choir, theater, and band. Her students have earned UIL championships, MA Dance national titles, and TMEA All-State honors. Kay's passion is helping young artists discover their God-given gifts while pursuing excellence, teamwork, and joyful worship.

Stephanie Saputra

Theater Instructor

Stephanie brings a background in education spanning Pre-K through 5th grade, including classroom teaching in Houston ISD and Varnett Public School. She has experience incorporating multi-sensory lessons and real-world learning into her instruction, and has developed and directed student programs across a range of subjects and occasions. Her hands-on approach makes learning engaging and personal for every student.

Mary White

Elementary Music Instructor

Mary brings 25 years of experience inspiring young musicians through elementary music, choir, and instrumental instruction. Kodaly and Orff trained, she designs every lesson so students sing, play, move, listen, and create. Her choirs have performed at the Texas Music Educators Association conference and sung in the rotunda of the Texas State Capitol. She is a TMEA member and experienced elementary choir director and curriculum writer.

Norman Ashcraft

Band Instructor

Norman brings 28 years of experience in musicianship, performance, teaching, and conducting. Trained as a classical clarinetist at LSU, he has performed in symphonic and concert bands, led dance bands across multiple cities, and conducted orchestras for large musical productions. He began teaching private lessons in college and has continued ever since.

Dr. Hugh A. Callison, D.A.

Band Instructor

Dr. Callison is a retired music educator with degrees from Olivet Nazarene College and Ball State University. He served as Director of Bands at Highland High School in Indiana, where his bands earned top honors at the Indiana State Fair and Indiana School Music Association. He later served as an Associate Professor and Director of Bands at two colleges and as a Fine Arts Curriculum Specialist in Arizona. A Union Chappel member, he is active in the life and worship of the church.

Russell Mills

Private Lessons Instructor

Russell holds a bachelor's degree in music from Texas Tech University and brings over 30 years of playing experience and 15 years in music education. He specializes in saxophone (Alto, Tenor, and Baritone) and also teaches flute, clarinet, and piano. His students consistently move into top ensembles, and his approach keeps fundamentals engaging and relevant. Russell is a committed Christian with years of experience in church worship performance both in the US and abroad.

Tuition & Fees

Tuition is priced per student, per semester. Siblings receive a discount starting on their first class. The $100 registration fee is waived for Union Chappel members.
