Staff & Leaders
At Union Chappel, ministry happens through people who love God and serve others. Our staff team brings diverse gifts, deep care, and a shared commitment to helping you grow in faith and find your place in the community. Whether you connect with us on Sunday morning, during the week, or online, these are the people working behind the scenes and in front of you to make Union Chappel a place where everyone belongs.
Co-Pastors
Union Chappel is led by two pastors who bring different styles and the same heart. Together, they shepherd our congregation through worship, teaching, and pastoral care.
Rev. Bill Hogan
Contemporary Worship Pastor
Bill Hogan is the pastor of Union Chappel's contemporary service, which means he listens to three songs and tells a good story—the greatest story ever told. After 21 years as a U.S. Air Force officer and pilot, Bill traded speed for purpose when God redirected his path through some hard and holy life events. Turns out, the real mission was about people, not planes.
Bill is passionate about helping people connect the dots between faith and real life. Whether someone is coming alive in their walk with Jesus or being restored after a hard season, he never gets tired of seeing lives changed and hope reignited. He's a graduate of Asbury Seminary and believes that if you want to go far, go together—and preferably with coffee and a few dad jokes.
He and his wife Rona have been married 40 years, have three daughters, three sons-in-law, and three grandsons—all here in Texas. Outside church, you might find Bill on the BJJ mat or practicing Krav Maga—because staying sharp, humble, and slightly sore is good for the soul. His office is usually easy to find—just follow the laughter.
Rev. Erik Gragert
Traditional Worship Pastor
Pastor Erik is the pastor of Union Chappel’s traditional services. He hails from Lexington, Kentucky, which means he bleeds blue as a dyed-in-the-wool University of Kentucky fan (basketball=great, football=not so great). Erik and his wife, Marsha, have a son, Landon.
Erik spent his entire youth playing competitive soccer, and continued to play for Transylvania University during his college years. Upon graduation, Erik began to work in a family business with the intent of taking over the business upon his father’s retirement, only to find out that God had another plan for him. Erik accepted Jesus at the age of 27, and would eventually leave the family business to venture into completely uncharted waters. He applied to Asbury Theological Seminary, left the family business, and pursued full-time vocational ministry.
Erik has served in professional ministry in the Houston area since 2011, and has pastored both traditional and contemporary styled churches. Outside of ministry, his passions are soccer, movies, and music. He spends his “free” time acting as the personal chauffeur to his son, who is pursuing his own budding soccer career.
As someone who came to faith in Christ later in life, Erik has a passion for helping others discover the meaning to our existence, and whether this is all there is to life, or if there is more that we may be unaware of. There is nothing he likes more than to sit down with a person over a cup of coffee to contemplate the mysteries of the universe.
Staff
Our staff team keeps the ministry running, the doors open, and the mission moving forward. From administration to youth ministry, these are the people who make Union Chappel work.

Lisa Coop
Office Administrator
Lisa joined the staff team in 2018 and oversees the daily operations of the church while providing administrative support to the co-pastors. With a BBA in Management from the University of North Florida and a BS in Mathematics from Valdosta State, Lisa brings business experience in purchasing and customer service to her role. She also gained valuable experience in church leadership and administration as a former Children's Ministry Director and Church Communications Coordinator.
Lisa is a Florida native and enjoys time at the beach. She and her husband, Greg, have been married 34 years. They are empty nesters with two adult children, Lauren and Matthew, who both live out of state. The family dog is 11-year-old dachshund, Sampson (with a 'p' because he doesn't have long hair).

Susan Hall
Children's Ministry Director
Susan Hall, our fun-loving Children's Ministry Director, joined the staff in 2017 after two decades of experience in helping kids discover the joy of faith. With a passion for creating engaging, safe, and fun environments, Susan's biggest joy is seeing kids and families come to know Jesus.
Susan and her husband, Jason, have been married for 32 years. They have two adult daughters and one dog.

Jill Samoff
Director, Fulshear Early Learning Center
Jill Samoff serves as Director of Fulshear Early Learning Center, a ministry of Union Chappel. She has led Fulshear ELC since 2017. Before joining Union Chappel, Jill directed First Methodist Temple preschool for 19 years.
Jill attended Angelo State University and is a licensed Director through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. She runs the preschool at Union Chappel and leads a women's Bible study for women from the school and community.
Jill felt a calling to ministry early in life and finds joy in serving others and working with children and families. She and her husband, Randy, have four children and two bonus kids through marriage: Madison, Jeremy, Chase, Makenzie, Kameron, and Ryan.
